Cadmium oxide reinforced 46V2O5–46P2O5–(8−x)B2O3–xCdO semiconducting oxide glasses and resistance behaviors against ionizing gamma rays

This study aimed to determine the contribution of B2O3/CdO substitution on gamma-ray attenuation behaviors 46V2O5–46P2O5–(8−x)B2O3–xCdO (x = 0–8 mol%) glass system. Accordingly, coefficients along with half and tenth value layers five different samples were determined in 0.015 MeV–15 MeV photon energy range. Moreover, effective atomic numbers weight exposure absorption buildup factors same The result showed that has a direct effect studied semiconducting oxide glasses against ionizing gamma-rays. Our findings increasing CdO reinforcement an obvious impact properties especially low range, where photoelectric dominates photon–matter interaction. half-value layer, mean-free path layer also decrease increase content composition. Consequently, VPBCd8 sample 8% mole additive was reported minimum path, build-up factor factors. outcomes would be useful for scientific community observe most suitable type related composition provide aforementioned shielding terms needs utilization requirements.
